STATEMENT

My work is multidimensional and experimental in intent. Standalone videos become an initiating center point, or are otherwise key to the multidimensional embodiment of the work. These standalone videos are the mining of new experiences and environments, based in a consciousness of place most immediately influenced by urban habitation, having lived in New York City for many years.

In the multidimensional work I combine video with 2-D video media – printouts of sequential video stills on sometimes extended lengths of inkjet roll paper – as well as with everyday 3-D physical materials such as raw plywood, and furniture and found materials. I’ve been very excited to arrive at this combination of media, both material and immaterial (given form through light and movement), as it gives me access to a broad, continually developing and opening out vocabulary. The most basic impulse behind the work is in bridging divides, and in providing/stimulating paths to new connections or associations, as well as in providing a location for the viewer of investigation.

Themes that have been significant for me over the years and interwoven into my body of work are urbanism, architectural space, sense of place, sex, nothingness, wholeness and loss, the miracle of human connection and the precariousness of human connect.
